LISADANAE2023

LISA DANAË

Lisa Danaë's music is like a heartfelt conversation with a close friend, offering a raw and honest glimpse into her life where vulnerability is celebrated. “Growing up an only child, I’d listen to music when I felt lonely,” the Filipino-American singer/songwriter says. “I always looked at it as a friend and something I could use to help process a lot of my thoughts and feelings.” The sunny southern California native grew up listening to Sheryl Crow, Etta James, and Queen, but it wasn’t until she discovered Christina Aguilera, No Doubt, and the pop powerhouses of the late 90s/early 2000s that she became sure she wanted to pursue music as a career. It was no surprise then when Lisa picked up the piano and started crafting her own melodies.

However, Lisa's musical journey wasn't always linear. It wasn't until she collaborated with songwriter and artist, a girl named jaen, and producer, John McLucas, in 2018, that a pivotal moment arrived. This creative trio allowed Lisa to fully embrace her artistic vision, to take full control of her lyrics and production, leading to the development of her unique sound. The release of her cinematic pop anthem, “STARLET,” further solidified her sound, combining cinematic and trap elements with an arena-rocking sound and big pop melodies that stick in your head. But Lisa's music is more than catchy melodies; it's a conversation with the soul. She infuses her nostalgic pop sensibilities with a modern twist, weaving deeply personal lyrics that explore themes of self-discovery, empowerment, and resilience. Her collab with electronic producer and DJ, Alex Bochel, “Press Reset,” became a hit with over 100,000 streams on Spotify. In 2021, her electro-pop single “Weigh Me Down” was nominated for Song of the Year at The Wavy Awards. Lisa's goal is to create a space for young minorities in music, connecting with her fans through genuine storytelling. You might have heard Lisa's “Focus On Me” on popular Philippines radio station WishBus’s “Wishclusive” segment or caught her performance at The Wavy Awards in New York.

In 2022, Lisa was selected for the GRAMMY NEXT program, an honor recognizing her as one of the next generation of innovators in the music industry. She's also working on a 7-song EP, coming out in the second half of 2024, all about the stages of grief. Whether it's overcoming vulnerability or embracing one's uniqueness, Lisa's message is clear: you are not alone.
