Once you click play, you will be greeted with a big smile from our LGBT+ queen CupcakKe in her fur boots. Like her usual viral rap videos, we have heavy beats, arresting lyrics and dazzling colors, but this time CupcakKe amazes us with smoke grenade of colors. We do not want to get smoked, but totally want her kind of smoke out.

You may be able to sense it from the song name, this upbeat tune is written in dedication to a huge part of her fans (Slurpers) and the LGBT+ community. CupcakKe is a female artist, she’s free. And she openly supports her fans to be free.

Last month, according to BuzzFeed, one Twitter user hailed CupcakKe as the “queen of kindness, talent, and support.” People are loving her kind gesture towards her gay teen fan who got kicked out of his house because he was gay. 17-year-old Christian tweeted CupcakKe about his situation out of desperation and guess what? CupcakKe offered him a hotel, and made sure he was warm and safe. “The first thing that came to my mind was not that ‘this is a fan’, but this is someone who is in need,” CupcakKe said. “Someone that’s about to be homeless just like I was at 13 years old.”

Her career being a rapper all started from the $50 her mom gave her to book a studio session for CupcakKe. She made it real by exposing the financial hardship and physical abuse she suffered of her childhood, and pairing them up with heart and creativity.

This 19-year-old Chicagoan is caring, innovative and unstoppable. So far, she has been writing her own songs, directing her own videos, and managing herself as an artist. She got acclamations from Rolling Stone, and listed in Rolling Stone's June 2016 listing of the "Best Rap Albums of 2016 So Far,” as well as recognized by well-known music publications such as Pitchfork, Complex, and The Fader. She went viral by simply being herself.

Her “LGBT” video has over 939,000 views on YouTube, make it a million in dedication to CupcakKe and the LGBT community she supports!

“The LGBT community is human and every human being deserves love and that’s what I’m here to spread at the end of the day.”

STEPHEN DAY

Sarod player, singer / songwriter and composer Stephen Day writes songs and compositions inspired by his many music tours around the world.

Born in California, and raised in Canada and France, Day began as a guitarist, then studied sarod in India with world-renowned award winning sarodist Amjad Ali Khan.

Day describes the 21-stringed fretless silver-necked sarod as being like the ‘granddaddy of all guitar like instruments’ and playing it as being ‘like taking a rocket ride for the inner soul’.

After India, Stephen spent time touring in Europe and America where he played premier venues including the Kodak Theater in L.A. and Town Hall in N.Y.  He then settled in Los Angeles and began to write music for TV and film. His body of work now contains music in 7 films, 4 music libraries, 4 albums and hundreds of television shows.

In 2007 Stephen organized and performed in a concert at the United Nations where his music was featured as a uniting force for ancient civilizations and modern countries in the East and in the West. A return visit is pending.

His latest album, Namaste, a collection of songs about adventure, mysticism and the road less traveled, is produced by two-time Gold Disc Award winner Matt Forger (Michael Jackson, Stephen Spielberg, Paul McCartney), and Shenkar (John Mcglaughlin, Peter Gabriel, voice of NBC's smash hit “Heroes”).  It features musical appearances by Matt Malley (Counting Crows), Daryl Jones (Miles Davis, The Rolling Stones), Satnam Singh (Nikka Costa, Hans Zimmer), and Vishwa Mohan Bhatt (Ry Cooder) among others.

Stephen is the founder of “Ombience” a 501 c3 non-profit organization dedicated to self-reflection through the Arts.  In addition, he co-founded Arts & Entertainment Radio (AER), the most listened to station in the IBS network of over 45 mostly college radio stations, with well-known broadcaster and musician John Tesh.

Stephen currently resides in Los Angeles where he composes, records with his band and launches music tours.

SUSY SUN

Susy Sun road trips South to find her new sound in sunny Los Angeles.  From drizzly Seattle to the Golden State, Susy Sun's self-titled EP is a compilation of songs fueled by love lost, a move to California and a newfound sense of freedom.  For this project, Sun dropped her traditional classical piano roots, and partnered with LA producer Benjamin Greenspan to create a pop masterpiece that's as catchy, as it is whole-hearted --   From "Girls", a peppy feminist piece, to "Selfish Love", a satirical beachy throwback, to "Pretty Baby," a heart break piano ballad, don't be surprised if, while listening to Susy Sun, you find yourself whistling and shedding a tear all at the same time.

"When I was growing up, my dad used to film me & my brothers so much. He loves documenting life. Maybe that's where I get it from. My dad actually made my first music video ever, Certified Fuck Up, when I was 18. He's super artsy. When I was really little, my brothers & I used to make lil home videos with his cameras. We would act out stories or scenes that we would imagine.
I always wanted to direct music videos but I never thought I would actually do it one day. I love bringing my visuals to life. I've directed/ co-directed almost all of my music videos. 1 thing I regret in my career is not giving myself credit on them. Back then I didn't realize how important it is to me that people know how involved I am with everything I release."

AMY GUESS

Guess was born and raised in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. “I was singing as soon as I could talk,” Guess recalls. “With my mother’s support, I studied classical voice. My teacher taught me arias, Irish tunes and standards like ‘Beautiful Dreamer.’”

The family moved to Las Vegas when Guess was 12. She played the lounges in cover bands and landed a job as a singing gondolier at the Venetian Hotel while still in high school.

One of the demos she made using karaoke tracks got the attention of Darren Sher. He produced her first album, Coming Up for Air, a collection of rock tunes that got local attention, but she was already moving on. “I wanted to blend EDM and pop to write songs with a big, emotional sound.”

A meeting with producer Rusty Varenkamp led to “Moonlight,” the single that put her on the map. They began working on Ten Times Out of Ten soon thereafter. Guess will spend most of 2017 on the road with her band, touring to support the EP.

Hot from her success as a Top 12 finalist of NBCs ‘The Voice, singer songwriter Ohio native Emily Keener is on her own with her new record, “Breakfast.”  On the first video single “Elevator,” the 18 year old sings with a depth that belies her age.  The stark imagery of the video is a perfect match for the simple, concise arrangement and sets the mood for this intimate break up/kiss off song.  Come hear Emily at The Mint as she joins the Hunnypot Live line up on 1 May!

This video pick is coming at ya via young artist Jane Ellen Bryant, hailing from Austin, Texas.  The song, “Twenties” released last year explores the universal trials and tribulations of Western young-adulthood verging on the cusp of full fledged adulting.  Bryant’s music is a melodious blend of pop and rock, tied together with her strong, twangy voice.  Navigating the turbulent waters of social lives, full time jobs, bills, the marriage of your peers, moving back in with parents, and college (or lack thereof), Bryant speaks to the confusion of the 20s in a person’s life.  In her mid-twenties herself, Bryant possesses a first hand insight to this age of transition.  The video is a visual representation of all this, cut together with shots in a bouncy castle and on a velcro wall to help accent the contrast and serve as a reminder that not so long ago, people in their twenties were in high school with much different concerns (and may be nostalgic for childhood).

Jane Ellen Bryant has three releases currently, including her most recent single, “All In My Head” which just dropped on February 17th.  Her talent attracted Grammy-nominated producer Chris “Frenchie” Smith (formerly of the band Young Heart Attack) who touts her incredible voice.  Bryant will be performing at Hunnypot Live on May 1st, come out to The Mint and hear it for yourself!

NORTH BY NORTH

Chicago garage duo North by North's surf-inspired rock & roll conjures images of catching waves off the Hawaiian coast all day before chasing the sun and sand with a swanky cabaret-club nightcap. They start from a foundation that channels bands like The Black Keys & The White Stripes, but quickly set themselves apart by adding adventurous, esoteric instrumentation—from cello and trumpet to tack piano. They have an uncanny ability to blend blues, surf and cabaret into a heady rock & roll stew.

resized ATOMIC WALRUS

ATOMIC WALRUS

Atomic Walrus is a Los Angeles-bred band best known for their high-energy live shows featuring a unique blend of rock, hip-hop, and funk. Formed after the band's guitarist and drummer collided in a mosh pit in the backyard of a UCLA co-op, Atomic Walrus cut their teeth playing college house parties before expanding to venues all over LA, from the South Bay to Silverlake. Since then, the band has self-produced and released music, toured CA, and performed for 10,000 people at the Hermosa Beach Summer Concert Series.

The sun-drenched surf-rock of their new single "WYMMF" nods to their South Bay roots, juxtaposing bright guitars and driving drums with melancholy lyrics chronicling an underbelly of hopelessness in a seemingly picturesque beach town.

Atomic Walrus is currently in the studio writing and recording their next EP, due in 2017.

DOWNTOWN BROWN

DOWNTOWN BROWN

Exploding from (the suburbs of) Detroit rock city in 2001, and venturing to the absolute bottom of the rabbit hole by 2015, Downtown Brown (DTB) has carved a unique saga over their 14-year existence. Jamming a mutant style that splices together punk, funk, metal, rock, and hip-hop, DTB is a band impossible to categorize. People tend to either love them, hate them, or are just generally puzzled by their often politically incorrect, outrageous, satiric lyrics coupled with genre-hopping technical skill.

After nearly a decade of independently releasing media (4 full-length albums, a live album, and multiple dvds) and touring (100+ shows a year), Downtown Brown amassed a loyal following due to their infectious, energetic and ridiculously entertaining live show.

They signed with DC-Jam Records in 2010 to release their 5th studio album ‘Grabbleton’s Beach’, a concept piece that had critics scratching their heads due to its musical A.D.D. and lyrics ranging from childish absurdity to tongue-in-cheek satire. All confusion aside, the album helped propel DTB’s popularity to new heights and remains a fan favorite to this day.

In 2011, DTB caught the attention of Fishbone founding member Norwood Fisher, who soon after signed on to manage the band. Since Fisher’s involvement, the band has secured numerous endorsements, played multiple festivals, and toured with bands like The Adicts, Dead Kennedys, Peelander-Z, Fishbone, Psychostick, Andrew W.K., and even Insane Clown Posse (with whom they recorded a hilarious duet with in 2012).

DTB recorded and released their 6th full-length album ‘Masterz of the Universe’ in 2013. Produced by Fisher, ‘Masterz’ is the band’s first attempt at a ‘serious’ rock record. Although some of the material echoes DTB’s previous recorded lunacy, most of the album is comprised of tightly focused compositions written from a sincere state of being. The lyrics chronicle band leader Neil P.'s internal battles; dishing with brutal honesty about depression, love, chemical dependency, the state of the world, and staying true to the band's artistic vision against all odds. In true DTB fashion, the music remains incredibly diverse, provocative, fun, and possesses undeniable pop sensibility.

2015 finds Downtown Brown thriving in a world full of easy-to-define, cookie-cutter music. Combining metal grooves, spastic funk, catchy riff rock, and all-over-the-place vocals, DTB’s broadly enjoyable sound and incomparable live show has captured the attention of a global audience. In the Summer of 2015, the band will release their 2nd live album and will continue to tour relentlessly, spreading their warped gospel to unsuspecting music fans across the land.

Dance music duo Jake and Sam make up Shy Luv.  This project out of England features the two producers creating awesome tracks.  Their first EP released last year, and this year heralds the release of a new one, titled “Shock Horror.”  Their first song off this upcoming EP, “Joyrider” was released a few months ago, and now we have the title track in video form to entertain your ears AND your eyes.  The music video for “Shock Horror” features tiny bodies reminiscent of the love child between Reed Richards from the Fantastic Four and a crash test dummy.  What does that look like?  Watch the video and you’ll see what I mean.  The little guys synchronize swim through the air to form shapes, bump into each other, bounce off a normal sized woman (British pop singer JONES, who lends her beautiful voice to the track), creating a delightfully trippy video.

Look forward to the new EP this spring and keep an eye on their social media for an exact release date!

Their first release, “Playing With Fire” (Box4Joy Records) was co-written by Icelandic DJ & Producer Ingi Bauer and has since the release in June 2016 reached over 110 000 plays on Spotify.

Following up their summer-hit and with a new collaboration together with Ingi Bauer, the Swedish duo has produced 5 new original songs that they’re showcasing at “Hunnypot Live at The Mint” the 6th of February in Los Angeles.

Their sound is a blend of Nordic Pop and Electronic Dance that has a sense of mystic to it. YG, Tyga, Ty Dolla $ign, 2 Chainz… They are all his pals. Songs he produced peaked at charts like Billboard and were certified gold by the RIAA. Oh, and he also DJ-ed at the age of eleven.

He is DJ Mustard. Notable tracks he produced include Tyga’s “Rack City,” which peaked at #7 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, #1 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, and #2 on the Hot Rap Songs chart; 2 Chainz's "I'm Different,” charted at #6 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart and was certified gold by the RIAA, selling over 500,000 copies digitally; Kid Ink’s "Main Chick" that featured Chris Brown, peaked at #3 on the U.S. Rhythmic Billboard chart.

Convinced? We are not done yet. While we were having fun at parties, Mustard was taking down the first trophy ever at Steve Lobel's "Battle For Beats" event, and even collaborating with Rihanna and TDE camp. His production style, which he calls “ratchet music,” has been described as “an up-tempo, club oriented, catchy yet rudimentary melodic hip hop style.” Here is a song he produced from last summer, Rae Sremmurd's Set the Roof feat.
