We may had been missing our host Hot Tub Johnnie this past week as he was partying it up at SXSW, but the Hunnypot Radio show must go on and was spectacular!

Filling in for Hot Tub was DJ Boom Shack who put together a slammin’ set of new handpicked tunes to jam to. Boom Shack featured new cuts from The Mynabirds “Generals”, the Owsley Brothers “Hot Mess”, the addictive new Charli XCX single “Nuclear Seasons”, LA’s own Wildcat! Wildcat! “Mr. Quiche” and Boom Shacks’ latest hangover anthem “Sh*t Got Crazy” by A.Dd+ out of Austin TX.

Julie Moe (ole Songs) took expertise to the test and passed with flying colors during her tribute set to the late Notorious B.I.G. who passed away 15 years ago on March 9th. Handpicking some quality Biggie gems including “Who Shot Ya”, “Unbelievable” and the all time classic “Flava In Ya Ear (Remix)”.

Julie also brought to the show our first featured performer of the night Adam Lasher, a former contestant on NBC’s The Voice and also a rising LA singer-songwriter with an absolute killer voice and not to mention the nephew of Carlos Santana. Adam played a few songs live from the Hot Tub including a smoking’ cover of Estelle’s “American Boy” and also featured his rockin new single “Lie To Me” – the title track off his brand new EP. We expect big things in 2012 for this young talent. Keep up with the latest Adam Lasher news, shows and updates.

Our final performer artist on the night was the beautiful Pasadena r&b/pop singer-songwriter Moniquea, who lit up the Hunnypot airwaves with her soothing yet powerful vocals. Moniquea performed her bangin’ West Coast single “Can’t Let You Go” off her most recent self titled album and also featured the new unreleased 80s stylized banger “Not Enough” and deep album cut “Johnny”. Moniquea has a big 2012 planned including a video in the works for “Can’t Let You Go”. Be sure to follow @1Moniquea for all the latest happenings.

First timer DJ Bernz closed out the night with a special surprise handpicked set loaded with funky soulful gems. Bernz rocked out with cuts like Mariachi El Bronx “Revolution Girls”, Quantic’s “Sol Clap”, Smoove and Turrell’s “Hard Work” and The Heavy classic “Colleen”. Our 232nd Hunnypot Radio Show was a doozy!  Hot Tub Johnnie kicked off as always and had a killah set of new tunes for us to hear.  Kicking off with one from his latest favorites "Elephants" by Blaudzun transitioning right into the brand new single "Nothing's Gonna Stop Us" by The Darkness!  Hot Tub also tipped us to fresh new cuts from Gzuz Piece "On My Mind", Future's latest banger "Tony Montana" and "Unbelievers" by The Deans List. Award winning author and music publishing guru Randy Poe (President, Leiber & Stoller Music Publishing) was our special industry guest DJ of the night. Randy came on the show in support of his new book titled Stalking The Red Headed Stranger.  Randy spoke sharing some great stories and tips from the book – where he chased American icon Willie Nelson across Canada, in his attempt to pitch a single song to the Red Headed Stranger.  The book is a guide to the art and history of professional song plugging - not one to miss!  So given that Randy put together a Willie Nelson tribute DJ set in honor of his book.  he featured classics like…"Truck Drivin' Man", "Pancho and Lefty", "Bloody Mary Morning" and superb rendition of Willie covering Coldplay's "The Scientist".

LA electro, dance pop duo Das Tapes provided a energized set of hard rocking electro dance beats.  Before killing it live we opened the set with their latest single "This Party" (if you haven't seen the video -check it out!).  The boy's officially started the party with an absolute dynamite performance of their songs "Black Ferrari" and "Neon Boots" which you can find on their latest self titled EP which is available on Bandcamp!

Hot Tub Johnnie & Gil Goddard rocked out last week as he broadcasted live from Casa del Popolo in the heart of Montreal!


Johnnie played some hot new tracks from the ole catalogue including "Closer" by Silver Starling, "Go Berserk" by Mark Sultain and also new cuts from Lindi Ortega "A Little Bit High" and Dru "Give Her What She Wants".


The first guest DJ was music supervisor Jeremy Blechet from Ubisoft. Jeremy had a killer set - which included jams like The Nerves' classic "Hanging On The Telephone" which was made famous by Blondie and also the latest cuts from AM & Shawn Lee "Different Forces", Birdy Nam Nam "Defiant Order" and much more that you should check out! 

Michael Rault performed an amazing solo acoustic set - playing tracks off his latest album MA-ME-O. Including...the garage, blues rockers "Let Me Go" and "Call Me On The Phone". 

Guest DJ Ghostbeard from (Ninja Tune / Third Side Music) closed out the show with an insane energized set featuring cuts from DJ Food "Giant", Wiley "Boom Blast", !!! "Dear Can" and many many more!

Another classic night at Libertine on the Sunset Strip in West Hollywood CA! THE KINGS (MISTER ZERO & DAVID DIAMOND "This Beat Goes On/Switchin' To Glide" surprised us with a quick interview. Hot Tub Johnnie welcomed his dear friend Jon Rosner to the party for an official "Interview" (As always the word is used loosely) and DJ Set. We chatted to Mr. Downstairs and Jo’ LuQ performed live. Mark Foley a.k.a. DJ Boom Shack closed out the Hunnypot get-down.

MR. DOWNSTAIRS (INTERVIEW)

Our first guests are LA indie, pop rockers Mr. Downstairs. The group is the brainchild of Dani Artaud formerly of widely popular electro/pop dance group the Millionaires and Asia Whiteacre. Their infectious new single called "Legendary" has created quite the buzz on YouTube sparking many people to offer their own renditions of the song. Be sure to check out the official "Legendary" video on YouTube as we expect a very busy 2012 for this group.

Hot Tub Johnnie had a special DJ set planned as he featured select tracks from many of the past radio guests over the last 6 years. Including songs from artists' Terraplane Sun, Far East Movement, Macklemore, Delinquent Habits and Portugal. The Man. 

Our first guest DJ was Thomas Golubic', music supervisor for the hit TV series' Breaking Bad, The Walking Dead and The Killing. Thomas is a frequent Hunnypot radio guest and had a killer high energy set saved for us with bangers from The Beatnuts, Pretty Lights, Smif-N-Wessun, Jon MCXRO and in honor of the late Heavy D "You Can See What I See".  

The Reverend Bud E. Love from the Cannabist Church Of Christ was our next guest to hit the hot tub and probably one of the most anticipated guests.  The Reverend gave a highly regarded sermon in front of a huge crowd on the importance of legalizing marijuana.  It may have been the Reverend's first Hunnypot appearance and will definitely not be the last; as it was a perfect match for Hunnypot who has been a long time advocate for Prop 19. So get out and vote and help support The Cannabist Church Of Christ.

DJ Boom Shack closed out the party with a few special requests for Jason Hemmens' "Kissing, Dancing, Singing, Jo LuQ's "Backpack" and upcoming hip hop artist Sum-in-1's banging' singles "Launch Pad" and "Again and Again".

Last weeks Hunnypot Radio show was another insanely fun show!

Hot Tub Johnnie started the DJ night off with a split set that included some killer new tracks from Gary Clark Jr. “Bright Lights”, Youngblood Hawke “Rootless” and much more!

Our first guest DJ’s to join us in the Hot Tub were Danny Johnson and Zane Landreth of hit concert group Check Yo Ponytail. Missing was founding member Franki Chan, but they still powered on with a storming set of music from Spank Rock, Big Freedia, The Death Set, and Pictureplane all who are featured the first ever Check Yo Ponytail Tour! Which will be hitting Denver tomorrow night – stay -tuned to checkyoponytail for all their latest events!

We had musical guests Weapons of Audio join us for a smoking’ live performance of tracks off their latest release Bipolar which is out now! This 2 piece which is now a 3 piece since they have moved to LA performed their super catchy new single “Night Light”, and the feel-good cuts “Boulevard” and “Top Down”! Our final guest DJ was music industry veteran Matt Lilley (President of MCL Music Services). This was Matt’s first ever Hunnypot DJ set and he closed the night out with a special selection of handpicked classics, that have shaped his life’s musical landscape. Including vault classics from Snoop Dogg, Parliament Funkadelic, Gangstarr and Mayor Hawthorne’s latest “A Long Time”.

Matt Lilley 

MATT LILLEY (GUEST INTERVIEW/DJ SET)

Matt Lilley created MCL Music Services in 2009 to provide Music Clearance, Licensing, and Supervision services to the Film, Television, and Advertising communities. Previously the Director of Music Clearance in the Feature Film division at Paramount Pictures from 1996 - 2008, Matt was responsible for much of the clearance negotiating and licensing in many of Paramount’s most successful films and soundtracks over that span of time.

In late 2008, Matt was named Vice President of Music Clearance and Licensing at Lionsgate Entertainment (in charge of the Film, Television, and Marketing divisions of the company) which he transitioned into maintaining as his first client under the umbrella of MCL Music Services.

Over the past several years MCL Music Services has expanded its services and now works in Music Supervision in the independent film and documentary world and Catalogue Administration.

An avid fan of jazz music, Matt is a lifelong saxophone player, performing with The Jazz Butchers and his jazz quartet in the greater Los Angeles area.

Matt holds a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Phoenix (2003) and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music Industry Studies from California State University, Northridge (1997).

HPR #221 was a slammin' party, as always Hot Tub Johnnie provided a killer set of hip new tunes.  Some notable selections were - Ike Nice's "I Get It In" (this weeks video pick of the week), Flo Rida's "Good Feeling", Italian dance artist Hardton's "Earthquake" and many more.

Our first guest DJ was renowned industry professional Tamara Conniff (The Comet.com).  Tamara kicked her set off with an ode to her time spent in NYC clubs playing the signature track "New York Groove" by Ace Frehley.  Always having an ear to whats hot, Tamara featured some breaking new music from Butch Walker "Summer Of '89" and DWNTWN's hip banger "Transition". 
 
Our musical guests of the night were none other than LA blues rockers The Downtown Train.  The train was steaming as the boys rolled through a fast driving set of boogie down blues rock which had the HP crowd grooving' out!  We kicked the set off with the bluesy rock jam "Tumblin'" and then stormed into their live set, playing 3 jams including the new single "Can't You See".  This Train is always rolling around town, so keep your eyes locked for all their latest show events!

DJ Boom Shack threw down some killer uptempo party jams to close out the night - including new bangers from NERVO (feat. Afrojack & Steve Aoki) "We're All No One (Hook N Sling Remix), Tove Styrke's "Call My Name", The Go Team! "Apollo Throwdown (Star Slinger Remix)" and many more!

Our next guest is industry professional Tamara Conniff, founder and curator of The Comet.  A social platform and outlet for artists and tastemakers to reach their audiences and blog about their own experiences.  An industry expert by many standards,Tamara has served as editor-in-chief of Billboard and former president of music services at Frontline Management Group/Ticketmaster.  This industry tastmaker will join us in the Hot Tub for an interview and handpicked DJ set.

 

 


 

THE DOWNTOWN TRAIN

We welcome our first guests, LA blues rock outfit The Downtown Train.  A band who is no stranger to playing gigs, they have stated they will play anywhere in the world at anytime and they will be playing their first ever Hunnypot radio show on the 19th.  A true blues experience with a sound that takes you back to 1950′s Chicago, but uniquely twisted in a hip modern LA style. 

So get ready to boogie down and party as you board The Downtown Train in a Hot Tub… never done before!

Hunnypot Radio was once again jam packed party at the Libertine, as we celebrated Labor Day in style!!

Hot Tub Johnnie kicked the party off with "Can't You See" a new LA blues rock cut from next week's HPR guest The Downtown Train.  He kept the hot tub bubbling with tracks from The Stone Foxes, Frank Ocean, Bob Marley, G-Eazy and many more.

Our first guest Phil Gallo (Billboard) made his second appearance on the show and handpicked a working mans set for the Labor Day celebration.  Some standouts from the Phil's set were Ry Cooder's "No Banker Left Behind", Harry Nilsson "Good Old Desk" and The Del Lords' "How Can A Poor Man Stand Such times and Live".

Our musical guests of the night were hip hop artists Kosha Dillz and E-Train.  Both artists stormed through high energy, aggressive performances…including Kosha Dillz' "Span-Hebrish (Ech Ani Olech)" and E-Trains vicious vocal attack on "Wreck The Disco Tech".  Keep your eyes and ears peeled open to catch when and where these two upcoming artists will be playing.

Closing out the night was DJ Boom Shack who featured a full set of hand selected music and signature cuts from Fembot "I Should Just", Killa Kyleon (feat. Mac Miller) "Come On Baby" and Sak Noels'  fantastic new party single "Loca People".

Rami Matan Even-Esh (??????: ??? ??? ???-??), better known by his stage name Kosha Dillz, is an American rapper and world class improv artist that has recieved major attention for his dedication to success. He has played every kind of gig, ranging from shows with Rza of the Wu Tang Clan and Matisyahu, to the Legendary Yo Gabba Gabba childrens show. He is most known for his ability to improv in front of thousands of people an rap in hebrew and spanish combined.

E-TRAIN

Raised in Chicago, Erich “E-TRAIN” Malo has always been known for his obsession with breakdancing, beat-boxing, and party rapping.  Growing up with a twin sister classically trained as a dancer and choreographer,  E-TRAIN was constantly surrounded  by music and dance.  Despite his artistic bent, E-TRAIN majored in business but when his mother Roxane Malo tragically passed away during his freshman year, young Erich’s passion for music and art blossomed and he transformed into the artist the world knows today as E-TRAIN.

Last weeks Hunnypot Radio show was a wild time. Despite the entire Libertine being under-construction for renovations, Hunnypot still marched on with the show!

Hot Tub Johnnie's set list was jam packed with goodness featuring new music from - Andy Clockwise "Everybody's In A Band", UNKLE "Money And Run (feat. Nick Cave)" and the Charles Bradley hit that is straight fire right now "The World (Is Going Up In Flames)". The Hot Tub Johnnie set also featured a surprise guest - Miss Girley, out of ATL. Girley did a quick interview and previewed a couple tracks from her forthcoming record including "Disco Drawers".

Our first guest DJ of the evening was Brandon Dorsky, founder/editor in chief of SUPERGOODMUSIC. Brandon who is known for his eye and ear for talent, played a killer set of some hit new taste-makers including an act he is currently managing - Weapons Of Audio "Night Light" and also played the Childish Gambino version of Jaimie XX's remix cut of "Rolling In The Deep". Our musical guests of the evening were Tic Tic Boom!, another great breaking act brought to the HP airwaves by Brandon Dorsky. Tic Tic Boom! previewed their killer new single "Bees" from their latest EP - Reasons & Rhymes. They performed a sweet stripped down set of 3 tracks, including a smooth melodic version of  "Just Friends". Be sure to check these guys out!

TIC TIC BOOM

The musical guest of the night is local indie/pop rock act Tic Tic Boom!, who will be performing live for us from the Libertine. Tic Tic Boom comes from right here in Hollywood and will be on in support of their recently released EP Reasons & Rhymes, which has been described as "electro-pop-tacular" with elements of indie rock, new wave and punk. Check out their song "Bees" a fun, upbeat, electro pop summer stinger!
