Nicolas Godin - The Foundation ft. Cola Boyy

Almost immediately you can't help but compare this music video to The Weeknd's "I Feel It Coming" or M83's "Midnight City." The video's subtitles suggest a post-apocalyptic future. From here we meet the heroine of the video, an astronaut in training who looks a bit like a young Angelina Jolie in the movie "Hackers." When you look at her studying among some plant terrariums you imagine she is about to embark on some mission like Bruce Dern in the cult classic film "Silent Running." The music video even suggests that "leaves fall in our final winter" and you can see imagery of leaves falling from a plant in the video.

One of the clever aspects of the video is that the subtitles suggest an audio interception from a distant planet. As our main character has her head phones on and is apparently listening to this transmission it works visually well with the audio track we are listening to along with her. We are definitely along for the ride.

As the video draws to a close our character finds herself on a planet similar to our own and the chorus of the song just repeats, "Our salvation." Like David Bowie's "Black Star" the video for The Foundation takes you on an otherworldly and unforgettable journey. Although the song comes in just past four minutes I could easily see this as an extended dance track.
