Lost Leaders, the musical project of Peter Cole (Lava Baby) and Byron Isaacs (The Lumineers, Levon Helm), will bring the music of the upcoming feature film RUN from the screen to the stage during American Film Market (AFM).

The performance follows the November 11 screening of RUN at AFM and will feature songs from the film’s soundtrack, Atalanta. Lost Leaders will be joined on stage by artists featured on the soundtrack, including Vicki Peterson & John Cowsill, Ryan Wright, Esabalu, Byland, The Mastersons, Sputnik the Band, and Kendall Jane Meade turning the evening into a live extension of the film and its music. Lost Leaders composed the film’s original score while also producing and serving as the backing band on nearly every track across the soundtrack, creating a musical landscape in which songs and score work together as part of the film's storytelling.

A first taste of the Lost Leaders music is already available with singles from the soundtrack including their own original “Atalanta,” featuring Amy Helm; “Maybe It’s Just Me,” featuring Samantha Fish; and “These Are Days,” featuring Sgt. Splendor, Kate Vargas and Eric McFadden, The songs were released as an EP on August 28th alongside a live recording of “Atalanta,”. These songs provide an early window into the role music plays within RUN. Rather than functioning simply as accompaniment, the songs and original score were conceived as part of the film’s emotional architecture. The November 11 screening and performance bring those two sides of the project together in Los Angeles: audiences can experience the film during AFM before hearing music from its soundtrack performed live later that evening. Directed by Melissa Miller Costanzo (All These Small Moments, The List, A Great Depression), RUN stars Sarah Levy (Schitt’s Creek), Phillipa Soo (Hamilton) and Adam Pally (Happy Endings), with appearances by Chris Redd (Saturday Night Live) and Hannah Dunne (Mozart in the Jungle). Based on Barrie Levitt Knee’s debut novel Plain Jane, the film follows marathon runner Jane Cooper who, fueled by the need for redemption and a killer playlist, juggles marriage, morality and a secret she can’t outrun. For Cole and Isaacs, RUN marks their first full-scale venture into film composition. Working alongside music supervisor Charles Newman (Mother West) and producers Jax Katz and Barrie Levitt Knee (Soul Surge Sisters), the duo developed a sonic world that moves fluidly between song and score, blurring the boundaries between cinematic storytelling and emotional memory. “The music in RUN is the fourth lead. It doesn’t sit behind the scenes, it drives the story forward,” says Barrie Levitt Knee. Lost Leaders began as a collaboration between longtime friends Cole and Isaacs, eventually taking shape during a period spent living and recording at Levon Helm’s legendary Woodstock barn. Their work on RUN represents another evolution for the duo, translating the instincts of songwriters and recording artists into the language of cinema.

With RUN screening at AFM earlier in the day and Lost Leaders taking the stage that night, This event creates a unique screen-to-stage moment for the film, giving the international cinema community an opportunity to experience both the story and the music that helps drive it.
