CONCERT REVIEW: A DAY TO REMEMBER, ASKING ALEXANDRIA, & POINT NORTH @ SOUTHSIDE BALLROOM, DALLAS, TX (10.26.21)

As soon as one show comes and goes, we are right back in the pit doing it again. It’s thrilling to be back at it after such a long year of not experiencing the things we love. This show was a much anticipated one. A Day To Remember show up to Dallas for the Re-Entry Tour with special guests Asking Alexandria and Point North. It was going to be a wild show and I couldn’t wait. Especially since it would be my first-time taking photos of ADTR.

Opening the show were Los Angeles natives, Point North. I remember seeing them right before Covid hit with Sleeping With Sirens and luckily got the opportunity to take photos of them. This time around, it was great to see all the traction they have made in the last year and a half. They played some of their most popular songs like “Gasoline”, “Erase You”, “Ghost in My Home”, and their killer cover of “Hammer” by nothing.nowhere. Always great seeing these guys on stage.

Next up was Asking Alexandria. It was super cool to finally be seeing them again after almost 4 years. I was super excited to see what their set was going to consist of. To my surprise, they didn’t play many old songs, if any. It seems that they have really embraced their new sound which is super dope because it is hard for bands to do that in my opinion. Even after moving past the hardcore stuff, they have remained relevant. We heard some of the newer hits, “Alone In A Room”, Never Gonna Learn”, and “Alone Again”. The crowd was loving it. They still know how to put on one hell of a show!

And finally, the band so many were there to see, A Day To Remember. It had been probably 6 years since I saw A Day To Remember last and I was super stoked to not only see them, but take photos of them. I knew we were all in for a treat. Jumping right in, they open up the set with “Right Back At It Again” and the crowd goes wild. It was cool because they had recreated the You’re Welcome album art with a backdrop and lights for the arch which is where Jeremy McKinnon came out. The best part about their set is they played songs from all over their discography which I know we all hoped would happen. Some of my favorites that they played were “2nd Sucks”, “Rescue Me”, “Have Faith In Me”, and so many more!

It was such a great mix of heavy and soft acoustic songs like “Everything We Need”. Jeremy was doing everything to interact with fans and even the photo pit. He really made for some great photos. I remember thinking “holy crap I got some great photos” after I left the pit. They ended the main set with “The Plot To Bomb The Panhandle” then proceeded to leave the stage. As we all knew, it wasn’t over. We all saw the lights start coming back up and “If It Means A lot To You” starts being played by Jeremy. After that, my two favorite songs by ADTR were played, “Sometimes You're the Hammer, Sometimes You're the Nail” and “The Downfall Of Us All” to close out the show. It was such a solid time.

Overall, I am so glad that I didn’t miss it. If you find yourself trying to decide to go, do it. 10/10!
