CONCERT REVIEW - EXCISION @ THE ARMORY, MINNEAPOLIS, MN (12.19.25)

Written by

Minnesota bass heads were treated to a saturated, stimulating two nights of deep, headbanging madness this weekend! Excision brought his tried-and-true “the more lasers the better but even more than that” production package back to Minneapolis’ Armory on Friday and Saturday, delivering an explosion of lights and sound that the mesmerized attendees won’t soon forget.

The crowd got warmed up with a slew of up-and-coming electronic talent, featuring All the ReasonHairitageCalciumJantsen, and Kai Wachi. Each artist brought an hour of their own take on concrete-rumbling, 4x4-nodding, bass-heavy rhythms and drops, rattling and shaking the barricade as hard as anyone could possibly expect.

Shortly after midnight, Excision took the stage and, in expected fashion, absolutely blew the roof off the Armory. The loudest sound you’ve ever heard emanated from somewhere deep in the double rows of subwoofers lining the front of the venue, and you could practically feel the massive structure shake. Kai Wachi was the first to turn on the pyro, but the gouts of flame that shot up as Excision started his set were enormous, paired with the largest set of lasers you could possibly imagine. Panels for days and enough strobes to light a forest created a visual showcase that simply cannot be compared to—the only show to come close this year was this summer’s Justice show. Excision has long had the reputation of delivering the most over-the-top, sensory-overloading light displays possible, and being able to finally capture it, I can attest that this absolutely is the case. The Armory, an enormous cavernous venue, was lit as brightly as daylight for much of Excision’s set.

Excision played deep into the night, mixing remixes of classic tracks with brand-new offerings. There was a consistent focus on build and release, angled more toward a groovy sound that allowed for some nasty headbanging. All in all, the DJ put together yet another entry into the category of “loudest, brightest shows ever,” and the Twin Cities are more than looking forward to his return next year.
