The Afterglow Tour, featuring co-headliners Cannons and Bob Moses, is the perfect blend of vibey indie-pop and dance music.
Kicking off the night was Oxis, a Los Angeles-based indie-electronic artist who has been described as a “siren amongst humans,” as her songs are all named after fish. Her music does flow like smooth water, and while her sound is a little quirky, it is catchy. Songs like “Piranha” and “Flounder” pulled you in like the waves on a perfect day at the beach.
Cannons came out to “Loving You” but quickly jumped into the super catchy “Starlight,” off their new album Everything Glows, which came out at the end of March. You don't realize how many songs the group has amassed in the past few years until they launched into alternative hit after hit like “Hurricane,” “Bright Lights,” and “Heartbeat Highway.” Lead singer Michelle Joy, with her smooth vocals, certainly embraced the retro look to match their sometimes vintage sound, with stage visuals to match. They ended their set with two of their most popular singles to date - the dreamy “Bad Dream” and “Fire for You” - with the crowd grooving and singing along.
Cannons isn't about explosive energy; they bring the mood. They wrap you in like a dreamy embrace, and that warm embrace was gentle and firm on this Georgia night.
Bob Moses finished up the night, taking the vibes from dreamy to upbeat and in-your-face, getting the crowd dancing.
If you're unfamiliar with Bob Moses, the best way their music and show can be described is layers - layers of rock mixed in with layers of dance. Not in a chaotic EDM way, but more in live drums, bass, tracks, layered guitar, and vocals you don't find anywhere else. While their hits like “Tearing Me Up” and “Love Brand New” were familiar to all in the crowd, newer songs like “Last Forever” and “Keep Love Waiting” also drew the crowd in.
