CONCERT REVIEW: THE ALTONS WITH INTROVERTED FUNK @ THE RMA, RIVERSIDE, CA (06.13.26)

I knew we were in for a night at the Riverside Municipal Auditorium before I parked. Fans were wrapped around the block, buzzing with anticipation before doors even opened. It was a warm Southern California homecoming for The Altons as they were bringing their tour to a close alongside Introverted Funk.

Opening the evening was Introverted Funk. Their sound bridges past and present, pairing timeless funk and disco grooves with sleek electronic textures. Daniel Valle and Veronica Rosa commanded the stage and set the tone from the very start. From playful exchanges with his bandmates to direct interactions with the audience, Daniel was incredibly engaging. He manned multiple instruments, from his vocoder to his electric guitar. He crushed solos, elevated songs, and made it hard not to keep him at the center of your attention. Veronica’s dancing, movement, and vocals had a smooth flow and brought everything together. As individuals they shine, but together this couple rises to another level. The smiles, chemistry, and infectious energy created a blissful atmosphere that proved impossible not to join. Every song seemed to build upon the last, creating a momentum that carried excitement straight into the headlining set.

The Altons came out and the room was roaring. They took the energy from the previous set and curated it into something more relaxed, inviting the audience to settle in and enjoy the evening of music with friends, family, and loved ones. At the center of it was the rhythm section. Caitlin Moss on drums and Chris Manjarrez on bass quietly held everything together, laying the foundation upon which the rest of the band could flourish. Their set was filled with music that felt familiar and timeless. They have a laid-back rhythm, warm vintage guitar tones, and soulful melodies, all brought together through their Mexican-American influences. All together they bring you to a place that feels simple and nostalgic. Their set was dynamic, with a constant push and pull of emotions. One moment, smooth Latin grooves brought couples together dancing in the aisles. The next, their more rock-inspired songs lifted the energy throughout the room. They also knew when to slow things down to softer rhythms that create space for lyrics and emotions to settle in. Adriana Flores and Bryan Ponce brought everything together with their voices, weaving in and out of each other to create a sound entirely their own. Bryan’s timbre is bright and grainy, perfectly contrasting Adriana’s rich and soulful tone. Their tight harmonies show just how well this group works together. Nothing feels forced, just a natural flow from their love of music.

Stepping out of the RMA and into the warm night, it felt clear that The Altons had delivered something special. Their sound is deeply connected to Southern California’s musical landscape, making the night feel especially meaningful for those in attendance. It was a fitting end to the tour and a perfect start to the summer season.
