CONCERT REVIEW: JOHNNY ORLANDO WITH DACELYNN @ THE ECHO, LOS ANGELES, CA (06.09.26)

June 9th at The Echo was a packed and intimate sold-out show that was filled with fans from all over. Johnny Orlando with support from dacelynn gave us a warm night to remember. Fans even flew out just to see the show. Both artists made the space feel comforting and, in its own way, nostalgic.

When dacelynn got on stage, one of the first things I noticed about her was her relatable sense of humor. She was down-to-earth and talked to the audience like it was a large group of friends gathered together.

I enjoyed hearing her talk to the audience, such as when she made a joke asking the crowd about avoidants before going into her unreleased song related to the topic. There was also a fun bit where she made a joke about Johnny Orlando and played into it by showing a tattoo on her arm with the name Johnny on it before going into a cover of a song about a guy with the same name. Some of the other songs she played that night were “80’s Makeout Session,” “Rip You Open,” “Dog Eat Dog,” and “Fishing With You.”

I loved all the stories behind her music, such as how “Fishing With You” is about her dad going fishing with his friend. Her music is emotionally touching, and I’m looking forward to the songs she comes out with next.

As one would expect, Johnny Orlando got the audience hyped before coming on stage and made an entrance. In the beginning, he was wearing sunglasses while the rest of his band dressed as if they were in a James Bond movie. Everyone had style. He danced around the stage with confidence and got right by the crowd while on stage multiple times. At one point, someone even threw a cowboy hat at him and he wore it. He interacted with the band and even played guitar for certain songs as well.

There were times he opened up between songs about his experiences with life and music. He had great stage presence and connected with his fans. He got the whole audience dancing and singing along as well. Some of the best energy I saw from the crowd was during his song “Everybody Wants You.” Other songs he performed that night included “Charlotte,” “Have Your Lovin,” “Last Summer,” “If He Wanted To He Would,” “Close To You,” “Adelaide,” “Heads Up,” “See You,” “Emilia,” “Linger,” “You’re Just Drunk,” “Temptation,” “Oh!,” “What If (I Told You I Like You),” and “Someone Will Love You Better.”

I liked how he went into the song “If He Wanted To He Would”; the song also serves as a reminder not to settle for less. It was also refreshing to see how happy everyone was up on stage; the joy was contagious. My favorite moment, though, was him bringing kenzie up to perform “What If (I Told You I Like You).” They were perfectly in sync and made the ending of the show a memorable one.

The lights also matched the energy of the show. It was my first time witnessing Johnny Orlando perform, and I’m definitely looking forward to the energy he brings to his future shows. Toward the end, I remember seeing a bunch of fans with their hands reaching out towards Johnny. It was a wholesome moment that’s been sticking with me.

You could tell all the fans left with a memory of the night that will live rent-free in their minds. Both artists had warm, down-to-earth energy, and that just makes you want to support them more. I recommend checking them both out if you haven’t already. I hope to catch them both again soon.
