You know who likes roller skates as much as Hunnypot?  Beach Slang.  On their latest video release “Spin The Dial,” the Philadelphia PA punk rockers discover themselves with roller skates and Super 8mm.  The video follows three skater girls from Long Beach’s Moxi Roller Skate Shop at the pier, along the beach, to the local liquor store, and into our hearts while singing “I’m hardly ever right, but I’ve never been wrong.”  Here at Hunnypot, we know exactly what they mean.

Hailing from Northern London, Avelino teamed up with fellow U.K artists Stormzy & Skepta to release a track called "Energy." Their music video is a testament to the name of the track. Having a very low-fi, VHS feel, the video is definitely worth a look, which is why we are happy to showcase it as one of our Video Picks! Be sure to share the love and follow Avelino on social media.

"What's in the box??!?!"

Another killer night from Hunnypot Live!

Hot Tub Johnnie started the night with a premeditated set of hot tracks.  Chris Husong from Club M lead the Sampling Session and got in the hot tub to talk about the upscale marijuana subscription box, Orion Simprini gave us felonious pop gems, Punky G brought salvation to the show, CeCe Frey incarcerated the crowd with pop/rock gems and The Tens gave us a life sentence of entertainment to close the live set.  At the end Hot Tub returned to the decks to revisit the scene of the crime; We all danced to repent. 3-20-2017

Punky G

PUNKY G

A fresh face to Rock & Roll, a breath of fresh air to music—she’s been called everything from a “rock star” to a “fashionista” to a “preacher”. She just simply calls herself a servant.

Gabrianna also known as “P.u.n.k.y. G…”, a Los Angeles native, is a budding entrepreneur, artist and philanthropic visionary.  Her experiences and background provide her with an unmatched and diverse style. Her strength, authenticity and sincerity are to be an inspiration to all people, with a developing fan-base transcends race, age and culture.

With a bold yet graceful approach to challenge and confront the status quo, it can sometime be difficult to categorize her into one specific genre between her broad lyrical content and musical diversity. She has developed her unique rap style from taking her original spoken word content and blending them with her original melodies combined with her love for Rock & Roll. She infuses her messages of love, hope, respect, faith, unity, and individuality in melodies that stick, words that matter, chords that unite and lyrics that heal, provoke and restore! Blending various sounds and styles of rock, soul, funk, hip-hop and folk she tends to fall into her own genre. She calls it “Rock Fusion”.

Punky G… is the first of her kind and is undoubtedly an up and coming voice for this generation with a fresh sound and perspective. Providing the world with timeless melodies and timeless content, her music will make you dance, rock, cry, laugh, think, perhaps even change.

Punky loves people, life and fun.  She is a creative, prophetic prodigy with a strong commitment to acting, writing and music that all show her passion to impact and change lives and culture.

 The Tens Band

THE TENS

The Tens are a greasy, blue, soul-funk jazz collective that originated on a street corner in Old Hollywood. They polished their chops on the concrete sidewalk for two years before they started getting booked for gigs. Since then, they've become the resident band at several venues across Los Angeles. The Tens never play the same set twice, they never play a song the same way, and they always play with their heart. They are a living, breathing, organic manifestation of music that will leave you feeling experienced.

Little Dragon never ceases to amaze us with their downtempo beats and dream pop vocals. Their new song “High” is just a taste of their fifth studio album Season High which is set to be released on the 14th of April this year. Little Dragon was first formed in 1996 in Gothenburg, Sweden and continue to release music true to their sound ever since. In 2011 their third album Ritual Union picked up some heat and ranked 41 on Rolling Stone list of the best 50 albums of 2011.

Hot Tub Johnnie opened up his set on his last radio show with their new song “High” and received a lot of love from the community. Be sure to check out their new music video as it is as unique as their sound.

“When they play live, THE INTERNET is a band.” That’s the closest thing to a description of The Internet’s music they have currently published, with a minimalist website and only slightly more descriptive facebook page. Formed originally from the partnership between former Odd Future members Syd Tha Kyd and Matt Martians, the band also includes Patrick Paige II, Christopher Smith, and Steve Lacy. The combination is something that I would best describe as sultry R&B with clear Brainfeeder-style funk and hip-hop influences, generating catchy grooves and sexy personal narratives of love and lust.

Perhaps qualifying The Internet as a band when they play live makes sense, specifically due to their emphasis on each member as an individual artist. Their current tour, “The Internet presents: The Internet” focuses as much on their solo work as their most recent album, Ego Death, to mold together a whopping hour and forty-five minute set with no opener. It’s the first group that I’ve seen so confidently support each other’s solo efforts as much as their collaborative work, almost marketing themselves as a super group than a band of their own.

Thus, seeing them in the incredibly intimate, 400-person-capacity New Parish in Oakland never felt like a regular show. Something in the air--between the amicable and down-to-party crowd and the simultaneously confident and personable band members—made being in that room feel like an absolute privilege. Their set revolved around their best-known songs from Ego Death, starting with “Special Affair” and threading songs like “Girl” and “Get Away” between mini-sets devoted to each members solo work. Steve Lacy’s set was my personal favorite, the peak of which featured a personal serenade to an audience member who was celebrating her 20th birthday. Syd Tha Kyd also of course deserves a special mention, who’s cool composure and humble leadership perfectly complimented her soothing, sultry vocals. At just twenty-four years old, she has experience from Odd Future, The Internet, and her solo work, and thus absolutely glows with swave confidence on stage.

Overall, the show is one that could easily draw in a crowd twice the size that The New Parish can fit. The group gelled together with well-rehearsed cohesiveness, pounding out jam after jam and making it so that the crowd never stopped dancing despite their lengthy set. The members each connected personally with the crowd, signing shirts and jackets thrown on stage, responding to comments from the audience, and singing directly to individual fans. Thus, though tickets are selling out incredibly fast at almost every venue, the chance to see The Internet, specifically this tour, cannot be missed.
