Hot Tub Johnnie and the HP Radio crew put another slammin' show in the books. Nestled in The Mint's confines, Hot Tub Johnnie kicked off the show with and spread the love with tunes from The Watts 103rd St. Rhythm Band, Chet Faker, July Talk, Prince Sole, Head of the Herd and more. You can listen back to Hot Tub's complete set here.
Oscar Mazzola (aka DJ Loam) of Music Sales sat down with Hot Tub Johnnie for a special interview/dj set. Mr. Mazzola provided a smokin' playlist which included tracks from William Devaughn, Tina Marie, Cider Sky, Phantogram and much more.
Kicking off the live portion of the show was Hunnypot favorite and LA/Chile based artist, Yael Meyer. The always soothing sounds of Yael's music were on full display last Monday, as Yael performed a beautiful set with her full band and jumped into early favs like "Tea For Two" and "Shed Their Fear". However, the highlight was definitely the title track off Yael's forthcoming album, "Warrior Heart" which is due to drop this Summer. Our next guests were The Hollow Brave, an LA based indie-folk, rock quartet who made one of their first-ever live performances and did not dissapoint. Bringing a large crowd and packing the Mint to almost full capacity - a truly succesfull night indeed. Be sure to follow The Hollow Brave at https://facebook.com/thehollowbrave as they continue their quest to takeover the LA music scene. As we moved on the night got a a kick in the ass with the fired up energetic sounds of Mars and The Massacre. This LA based garage rock, trio and recently dubbed "LA's Best Live Band" by LA Weekly turned up the amps and brought complete sonic-bliss to our ears with a bad ass set loaded with heavy guitars, loops, drum samples and of course infectious hooks. Closing out the night was buzz worthy LA hip hop artist, Marlee East. Marlee, hit the stage and dropped some smooth rhyming flows for all to jam to. Be sure to stay up-to-date with all of Marlee's latest tracks as he prepares to release a full-length album soon.
Huge thanks to everyone that came out to support, perform, and both the The Mint and Hunnypot crews. We couldn’t make it all happen without each and every one of you! If you missed the show or just want more, you can listen back to all the performances and DJ sets at the Hunnypot website. 06/02/2014

After discovering they had great musical chemistry, Sela and Winkler, along with Engelstein and Samson, decided to pursue a more solidified project, forming The Hollow Brave.
Mars and the Massacre is comprised of John Newell, Peter Doherty, and Ethan Walden, and these guys are a trio of energetic, fired up badassery. I recently caught their live show and there is no lacking in loudness, energy or fun. They are infectious. I don’t know that any one person was entirely standing still in the crowd.

Louis Prima Jr. & The Witnesses return with Blow, a new-swing stomping set, for sophomore music release.
The new title follows the band’s debut, Return of the Wildest!, released in 2012. The collection features 11 tracks, opening with title track “Blow,” the album’s namesake, which quickly sets a boisterous mood. The stirring and anthemic “Go Let’s Go,” also the release’s lead single, follows the introduction to continue the vibe. The third track, “New Orleans,” goes even a step further to showcase the group’s bona fide flair for popular blues rock. The overall up-tempo release takes some breather moments with such tracks as “Someday,” which features the guest vocals of singer Leslie Spencer, and closing number “Those Million Things.” Two truly unexpected gems are found three quarters of the way into the release. The first is “That’s My Home,” featuring vocals of Prima Jr.’s own famed and legendary singing father Louis Prima, and the cover of the ’80s Adam Ant pop hit “Goody Two Shoes.”
Prima Jr. & The Witnesses’ Blow is one release with enough sonic goodies to stir any listening into dancing feet. The is due out, on Warrior Records, June 10, 2014.

What is your greatest Escape? Where would you go if you could? Would it be far away? Or very close to your heart?
The Great Escape is an LA-Based rock band comprised of veteran songwriters Amie Miriello, Malte Hagemeister, and Kristian Nord. Originally paired by the powers that be to write for other artists, these wandering minstrel souls found a remarkable chemistry with each other. The very first song they wrote was featured on a JC Penny commercial that debuted during the broadcast of The Academy Awards. Soon after, the band began recording their debut EP.
Despite their inner-industry beginnings, The Great Escape is a champion of the independent spirit. They come from all over the world, with influences that defy any specific era. They are raw, real, and unafraid to let their roots be seen. They are vibe incarnate – just close your eyes, listen, and follow your heart.

Head of the Herd is modern blues with a hell of an edge.
The Vancouver based band has recently completed their sophomore record and they’ve unmistakably found their stride. Harnessing the energy of their live show, this record highlights the beastly, melodic, storytelling prowess that is Head of the Herd. They created the album in two sessions. The first with one of rock’s most sought after producers Gggarth Richardson, the man behind Rage Against the Machine’s chart topping debut, Biffy Clyro’s 2013 UK #1 album “Opposites” and countless in between. The second session was produced by Rick Jackett & James Black from the multi-platinum group Finger Eleven. The album will be named after the first single, a duet with Jasmin Parkin from Mother Mother titled “By This Time Tomorrow.” The song has been used by the NHL & Hockey Night in Canada for a playoff montage, and as of late June hit #1 on the national rock charts.
In the time since the release of their debut LP “On The House,” Head of the Herd has gained significant momentum. Being named Fox Seeds winners (previous winners include Nickelback, Matthew Good Bif Naked & More) was only the beginning. They’ve toured across the Country for Canadian Music Week, released music videos for their radio singles, played Telusfest, the Grey Cup Festival, and have opened for Guns n' Roses, Alice in Chains, The Sheepdogs, Monster Truck and the Trews. Their single “Knock Me Down” has taken them on and beyond the radio, being featured in Rip Curl and well as GT Bikes/Red Bull videos online.
Their debut single “Ain’t My Day” has been played on radio throughout Western Canada and online, with a video by acclaimed director Luke Hansen-MacDonald. And recently, Billabong has used their chilling tale of “Erinyes” for their Damn AM TV show.
Head of the Herd is modern blues with a hell of an edge, and they’re proud to unveil their sophomore LP, “By This Time Tomorrow.”
Jessta James may not be from the South, but the Montana native surely knows what country is. “Out here it’s about the cowboy way, ranching and rodeos,” country’s innovative new up and comer says.
A late bloomer artistically, Jessta didn’t write his first song until he was 24 years old, but the bug quickly bit him and he was hooked. “I wrote probably 150 songs over a year and a half,” the former construction worker says. “If I had an idea while I was at work, I’d write it on a two by four or a piece of cardboard I’d ripped from a box of nails.”
Even though Jessta is country through and through, it wasn’t until he discovered artists such as Eric Church, Big & Rich and Brantley Gilbert, among others, that he realized his unique blend of country rock infused with hip hop, wild west and classic rock could find mainstream success. After all, today’s iPod generation of country fans are just as comfortable listening to Jason Aldean as Ludacris and Lynyrd Skynyrd. “They’ve paved the way for my music,” says Jessta.
Front and center in Jessta’s life is his Christianity, which is evident on his album. There are many references to his spirituality—both overt and subtle. “I always want my music to make an impact and share a message,” Jessta says. “I’ve always just done what God has put in my heart as far as writing songs. What I’ve found is that it’s reaching people no matter what their faith is. It’s not coming across to people as preachy, it’s coming across as real.”

Since 2005, iPunx has been one of Europe’s great mashup pioneers. After touring massively in and around Germany, he’s landed with a mashed-up crash here in Venice, CA.
In the initial 3 smash EP’s and seamless mashup album “Destroying Dancefloor”, IPunx showcased an eclectic mix of house, rock, hiphop, punk and electro, ending up in many DJ charts around the world, including BBC Pete Tong’s Buzz charts (#3). Initially a duo, and in spite of years of successful touring, the two members of iPunx parted ways in the late 2000′s to pursue individual careers.
After relocating to LA, a now solo iPunx resurrected the project in 2013. A music producer and composer during the day, it was time to play with the unorthodox mix/mashes he truly loves. “Anybody can DJ hits. I wanna play obscure stuff that is entertaining as well. I love the surprise element”. The excitement is infectious! In West LA, iPunx fan base is growing fast.
iPunx sound ranges from chill sunrise sets with little known acoustic covers to party sets with funky mashups and remixes that combine electro, hip-hop, dub step, rock, pop, soul, folk, funk and party breaks. His credo: “Never originals. Always fun.” What’s the crowd’s reaction? ” Usually, WTF is that?” And then their hips are shaking and they’re singing along with giant smiles plastered on their faces.
iPunx has played crazy fun parties in 2013 in Joshua Tree, Baja, CA and with Boogaloo and Dirty Beetles at Burning Man. You can groove live to his mixalicious mashups weekly at The Bank of Venice on the Windward Circle. Check out www.iPunx.com for upcoming performances and new releases.
Brandon Dorsky, LA tastemaker, Lawyer, Manager and founder of the SUPERGOODMUSIC blog sat down with Hot Tub Johnnie for a special interview/dj set. Dorsky provided a dope playlist which included tracks from LA's own YNGCULT, Vindata, Odesza, Ed Sheeran x Kygo, Brother Ruxpin and much more. Be sure to follow the SUPERGOODMUSIC blog for all the latest LA show listings and music updates.
Kicking off the live portion of the show was LA based, Russian singer-songwriter, Elizaveta. Performing a stripped down set with just her keyboard, Elizaveta quieted the room as she soared through songs off her latest EP, "Hero"including the single "Sorry". Adding beautiful pop melodies accompanied by emotional piano hooks. Our next guest was Zach "ReaZon" Heiligman (former MPC master for Foster The People). The LA based (via Minnesota) MC, Producer, Songwriter premiered his new single. As we took to the show to the next level we were treated to hyped up Hip Hop performances by Chicago's own Keith Masters, who coasted through a blistering set of catchy, electro-hip hop jams. Following up Keith Masters, was none other than LA based, DIY MC, VerBS. Kyle Guy (aka VerBS) rocked through a set of hard yet, quirky, indie hip hop jams. LA's own, Awfully Awesome jumped up to the challenge next and slammed an chill vibin' set of laid back 90s based boom bap, hip hop cuts. Closing out the night was none other than HP favorite/LA based hip hop MC, Kosha Dillz. Kosha dropped some hard hitting beats and rhymes as he performed some of his classics like "Cellular Phone" and new cuts "What's Goin On Upstairs" and "Hangin' Out". LA based DJ, Producer, Songwriter, Brother Ruxpin was the man on the 1s and 2s all night. Ruxpin dropped some heavy dance cuts in his DJ set which saw him spinning for well over two hours of jams. He even premiered his latest single "Got A Light" (feat. Tru Collins) earlier in the night during Brandon Dorsky's set.
Huge thanks to everyone that came out to support, perform, and both the The Mint and Hunnypot crews. We couldn’t make it all happen without each and every one of you! 5/05/2014

“Alchemy and music are similar in nature,” she explains. “You throw seemingly disparate elements in a pot. If you do it correctly, they’re transmuted and something else takes form. I take opera, multiple voices, electronic beats, piano hooks, add a pop melody and create a song. Shake it all well, make sure it’s emotional and really means something, and you get something special”.

Producer/MC/songwriter/wunderkind ReaZon (formerly of Foster the People)
Take the thoughtful lyricism of Lupe Fiasco, the R&B sentimentality of Drake, the bravado of Kanye West and throw on the Miami Vice soundtrack and you've got Electromajic; and Keith Masters is it's pioneer. His electronic, pop, and hip hop music can currently be heard on NBC, ESPN, The Oxygen Network, the NFL Network and the Fox Sports Network. He has worked with some of Europe’s hottest producers including Digikid84 and Futurecop!, as well as some buzzing artists in the US such as French Horn Rebellion, Hey Champ! and Kosha Dillz. If that’s not enough - Keith has had three top 5 singles charting on Hype Machine, and combine that with his impressive supporting performances with the Wu-Tang Clan, Foster The People and many others, Keith has proven that he is ready to embrace the spotlight.

With his mezmerizing vocals Tood weaved through a top notch set of electronic, indie pop, rock with a touch of soul and gospel. Portland based alt-rockers, Rags & Ribbons hit the stage next. This 3-piece outfit performed a melodic rock driven set anchored by classically inspired piano, post rock with rich harmonies and dramatic hooks. Next to rock the Mint stage was LA based rock n' roll, blues trio, The Universal Tone (T.U.T.). Lead by smokeshow vocalist, Jasmin Poncelet, T.U.T. cruised through a high energy set loaded with classic 70s rock n' roll influences which worked into a melting pot of today's harder blues rock acts. LA based (via Utah) wordsmith, Farah Moans lead us into the late night performances and kicked off the beat driven music of the night. Farah laced together a hard rhyming set over slamming hip hop drum beats. HP favorite, L-Boogie closed out the night with his hotly anticipated Birthday set. L-Boogie brought the bounce with his hard hitting hip hop set loaded with new bangers off his forthcoming Mixtape, Save Me From Myself.
Huge thanks to everyone that came out to support, perform, and both the The Mint and Hunnypot crews. We couldn’t make it all happen without each and every one of you! 04/21/2014

TODDZERO crafts kaleidoscopic sounds with sonic textures that are equal parts inclusive and infectious. The Los Angeles-based artist formerly known as ToddO has garnered success in the blogosphere and from the critics: Anthony Fantano, host of NPR’s The Needle Drop podcast hailed TODDZERO as “a charismatic voice” and Under the Radar called the musician “a rare gem.”

Rags & Ribbons play melodic rock anthems driven by classically-inspired piano. Progressive and post-rock influences by way of Queen, Muse, Arcade Fire and Sigur Ros color these intricate pop songs, expressing desire, yearning, regret and joy like only pop can. This Portland, Oregon band’s debut album, “The Glass Masses” features elaborately structured songs with rich harmonies and dramatic hooks.

The Universal Tone (T.U.T.) is a rock n’ roll, blues band formed in 2012 that meshes the classic sound of ’70s rock with contemporary pop sensibilities. Front person and rhythm guitarist, Jasmin Poncelet formed the band with hometown friend and lead guitarist, Garrett Craig, with the mission to bring musicianship and songwriting back into the forefront of mainstream music. After a handful of successful performances in the L.A. circuit (Universal Studios 5 Towers Main Stage, Whisky A Go Go, The Viper Room Lounge, El Portal Theatre, etc…), and the addition of Kenneth “Biz” Mackenzie on drums, this band of gypsy’s teamed up with Grammy Award winning engineer, Bob Horn to record their first feature project. The songs recorded were a collection of musical pieces and lyrics that Poncelet had been cultivating for the past three years and the outcome of those formations would eventually earn the title of T.U.T.’s the “Nebraska EP”. “Nebraska EP” is due for public release in the first quarter of 2014, while their debut music video for the lead single “Nebraska” is slated for a fourth quarter 2013 release. The band has been enthusiastically described as a melting pot of Jimi Hendrix and The Black Keys, stirred together with the passion and ferocity of Poncelet’s female fronted vocals.

With little direction or experience in songwriting, Farah began writing songs in every genre. Her own musical influences were so broad, she found it very difficult to hone in her creativity into one neatly packaged style. What became apparent, however, was Farah’s uncanny gift with words and her ability to memorize her lyrics without ever having to write them down. Cognizant of her uncommon skills set, Farah decided on a whim one day to try and write a hip hop song ”Royal Flush”. Farah began performing her rhymes as a sort of party gag around Hollywood for anyone and everyone who didn’t believe she could rap. After one such freestyle session, Farah was introduced to Donte Boss by a mutual friend who thought the two would make for an awesome collaboration. Her hunch was correct. Farah and Donte quickly got a long like peas in a pod and saw an opportunity to develop Farah Moans’ project into a completely new and unique sound. The resulting release, Farah Moans debut EP “Precious Moanments” is a harmonious mélange of styles and influences.

Hot Tub Johnnie and the HP Radio crew were back at The Mint for their 288th show. Hot Tub kicked the party off with some of HP favorites from The High Plane Drifters, The Dollyrots, Prima Donna, The Last Internationale and many more.
Joining us for a special sit down interview and handpicked dj set was none other than JT Griffith, who is Head Music Supervisor for Nike. JT's set featured some of his top favorite artists, hitting us with songs from Etta James, Wild Cub, Tanlines, Sam Smith, Suuns and much more. Kicking off our live segment was LA based electronic duo YNGCULT. This was one of the duo's first shows and for many the first time anyone has seen their identities. YNGCULT performed a brilliant set of tunes off their forthcoming EP, Capitoll. Be sure to listen back to their complete live set and look out for the standout tracks "Sides of War" and the lead single "Let's Get It Back".
Next to take over the stage was Hunnypot Artist, Das Tapes. The LA electro, dance, funk duo consisting of brothers Kevin and Mark Ignatius lit a fire under the Hunnypot crowd and ignited dancefloor madness with their hard hitting electro beats. The boys even debuted their new single "Fetish".
Next up to the stage was indie rock outfit, The Herms. This new LA four piece kicked out the jams as they stormed through a raw, hard driving set featuring songs off their latest Castle Face Records release "Drop Out Vol. 1".
Taking us into the late night performances and kicking off the hip hop portion of the show was LA based producer, rapper, Barbi Crash. This marked Barbi's second time on the Hot Tub stage and he brought a whole new electro-infused hip hop dance set.
Next to hit the stage was long time Hunnypot favorite, E-Train, who dropped in for a special live set to premiere some of his latest bangers.
Closing out the night was none other than Hunnypot's own, Chi-town rapper and Treated Crew member, Gzus Piece. Fresh off the release of his new mixtape, Daily Bread, Gzus crushed a hard hitting hip hop set sending the HP crowd home with a well deserved buzz.
Huge thanks to everyone that came out to support, perform, and both the The Mint and Hunnypot crews. We couldn't make it all happen without each and every one of you! 04/07/2014

YNGCULT hail from the Los Angeles area, but remain anonymous. “Sides of War,” one of the two singles known to their name (the other titled “Lets Get It Back“), is a pre-release from their Capitoll EP, which is set to be available early 2014. Quite obviously, production is where YNGCULT thrives. “Sides of War” creates engaging buildups and minimalist drops, with twinkling synth and haunting female vocals, similar to what we heard on Cathedrals’ “Unbound.” With emphasis on floating melodies and thoughtful lyrical content, the anticipation for this EP is of high caliber. “Sides of War” is diverse and passionate yet utterly graceful within its every motion.

Das Tapes were born in Los Angeles, 2010, brothers/producers Das Tapes are doing more than taking a stab at pop music; with Kevin helming drums, beat production and lead vocals, and Mark as the guitar and synth-wielding doctor, they’re killing it and bringing it back to life. Both schooled in jazz and fanatics of Hip hop and Motown, their gleaming beats and earnest songwriting were captured on their self-titled, -produced and -released EP. Described ”addictive, sexy, dark and dirty synth laden,” blogs around the globe have already had a field day using their likeness in mixtapes, DJ sets and remixes. And not to be outdone, the production duo’s handled remix duties for both Mates of State and Okkervil River singles.

Hot Tub Johnnie and the HP Radio crew were back at it for their 287th show this time at The Black Rose Tavern (aka The Joint). Hot Tub kicked out jams by LA's HOLYCHILD, Coldplay, The Cramps, Head of the Herd, Seven Saturdays and many more.
Our guest DJ of the night was LA based music fiend and rock blogster, Jolynn Braswell. Founder of the highly sought after LA based Bad Ass Bands blog, Jolynn curated a very special handpicked set of some of her favorite rock n' roll jams. Including cuts from…The Janks, Heavy Heavy Hearts, No Small Children, The Shakers and much more.
Kicking off our live segment was LA based pop, rock, band, Flavia & The Red. The performance was anchored by Flavia's strong soulful vocals and tight rhythm section. Bringing together a mix of classic and modern R&B with energetic pop melodies.
Next to take over the stage was our headlining act, The Great Escape. Performing their very first show togteher, this LA based four piece lead by the exceptionally talented, Amie Miriello packed the house and stole the entire show - even being asked to do an encore of their first song "All I Think About". We highly suggest checking out The Great Escape live and experiencing their raw, high energy, bluesy, soul rock vibe in person.
Closing out the night was none other than Pioneering mash-up, DJ producer, and guitarist for The Great Escape, iPunx (aka Malte Hagemeister). iPunx showcased his legendary mash-up technique with an eclectic mix of dance house, rock, pop, breakbeat, hip hop and electro.
Huge thanks to everyone that came out to support, perform, and both the The Black Rose Tavern and Hunnypot crews. We couldn’t make it all happen without each and every one of you! 03/24/2014
Los Angeles-based band, Flavia & The Red, has shot onto the music scene like a bullet. The principal singer and songwriter is 22-year-old Flavia Watson. Born in California, but raised through her formative years in Ireland and Italy, Flavia exhibits a traveled and seasoned prowess that most women her age lack. Equipped with a sultry and soulful voice, her presence is the personification of the color red—emotional, fiery, and passionate. The band’s overall sound contains elements of classic and modern R&B, pop, and rock. Anchored by a tight rhythm section, the music exhibits memorable melodies and interactive improvisation with Flavia’s emotional and poetic lyrics at the forefront. Flavia & The Red is taking the future into its own hands and will continue to grow as it has over the last few years. They have already been featured on various blogs and magazines, including the cover story for LA lifestyle magazine, Back Seat Quarterly, and in Dublin, Ireland’s Intallaght Magazine. They are currently on rotation for various radio stations around the U.S and performed live on television for WGN, as well as on Park City Television in Park City, Utah. They are constantly writing new material, planning more tours across the country, and have a new album in the works.
What is your greatest Escape? Where would you go if you could? Would it be far away? Or very close to your heart? Welcome to The Great Escape. We are a band from Los Angeles, California. We met each other writing songs for other artists. But soon we realized we needed to create something that resonates with us. With who we are. With where we come from. With our roots. We love the 60′s. The 70′s. When Rock, Soul, Blues and Folk was raw. Unpolished. So we had a lot of fun capturing the moment. The vibe. The heart. The Great Escape is Amie Miriello, Malte Hagemeister and Kristian Nord. Thanks for finding us. Just close your eyes. Listen. And follow your heart.

After relocating to LA, a now solo iPunx resurrected the project in 2013. iPunx sound ranges from chill sunrise sets with little known acoustic covers to party sets with funky mashups and remixes that combine electro, hip-hop, dub step, rock, pop, soul, folk, funk and party breaks.
Hot Tub Johnnie and the HP Radio crew were back at it for their 286th show and it was a rockin’ party. Hot Tub kicked out new HP jams by A House For Lions, July Talk The Dollyrots and other gems from Broods, YG, The Preatures and more.
Our special guest DJ for the night were Mansions on the Moon, representing the band was producer keyboardist, Ben Hazlegrove. Ben sat down for an in-depth interview on the beginings of the band and their writing process. Ben also previewed a handful of tracks off their current releases “Full Moon”, “Lost and Found” and “Lightyears”. We highly recommend checking out the entire interview and listening back to their singles “Radio” and “She Says (Lights Off)”.
Kicking off our live segment was LA based pop rock singer-songwriter, The Jon Collins Band. Jon sang a stripped down set of upbeat, insightful acoustic pop rock jams. The highlight of the night was “Let Love Live” and “Ashley” his brand new single released this week.
Next to take over the Mint stage was Venice based based pop rockers (via Australia) Heroine December. Lead singers Maya and Nandy may be known as the back-up singers and dancers for Prince, but they completely took the Mint by storm as they performed a beautiful stripped back acoustic/electric set of their unique blend of pop rock jams.
The highlight of the night was definitely the performance by LA alt-rockers, Polaris Rose who completely packed the house. Lead by Madelynn Elyse and Peter Anthony, this LA duo performed a soaring set of free-spirited indie rock blended with tightly crafted pop melodies.
Closing out the night was none other than LA based rock n’ roller, Adam Bones. Having made his name accross LA with his spectacular stage presence and showmanship, Adam Bones blew the night out with his stadium rock savagery and 70's influenced power-pop hooks.
Huge thanks to everyone that came out to support, perform, and both the The Mint and Hunnypot crews. We couldn’t make it all happen without each and every one of you! 03/10/2014

(Performing Live) The Jon Collins Band was formed in Hollywood 2009. The band’s namesake was born in rural North Carolina, where he grew up surrounded by heartfelt blues melodies and true lyric country influences. Being an innovator by nature, Jon’s first instrument was the harmonica, which he proceeded to play with classical music and hip hop. A songwriter and vocalist for the group Still Life in Chapel Hill, NC, Collins became a local favorite. From there Jon Collins played in Virginia, Maryland, Texas, the midwest before settling in Los Angeles a few years ago. Jon Collins’ songwriting and vocal style evolved into something very contemporary, strikingly powerful in lyric and with acutely attractive melodies. A stunning and fresh blend of rock and pop. It was in LA that Jon Collins was introduced to George Daly, acclaimed hit songwriter and music executive for over 25 years with Elektra, Atlantic and Columbia Records. The two began songwriting together almost immediately. Recently, Lu Ye, acclaimed for her performances both in Asia and in the US was brought on board as buzz and interest in this debut album has grown. Things are currently happening at a lightening pace so please stay tuned for upcoming shows and promotions leading up to the release of their debut album this summer. http://www.joncollinsband.com twitter.com/joncollinsband

(Performing Live) “A duo comprised of Peter Anthony and Madelynn Elyse, their ever-growing popularity is spurred by their catchy alt rock music and lyrical stories. Their precise harmony, hard-hitting mainstream beats, and sing-a-long choruses make for unforgettable music that has quickly launched their career” – PureGrainAudio.com Adventurous and free-spirited, the musical duo Polaris Rose is an emerging band in the Los Angeles music scene. Tight duet harmonies, atmospheric soundscapes, and soaring melodies give Polaris Rose their signature sound: a blend of indie avant garde and musical simplicity. Polaris Rose’s sophomore EP (“The Moon & its Secrets”) is now available on iTunes, Spotify, and elsewhere online.

(Performing Live) This band has no past. Literally. We can tell you some things—a little of this and a bit of that—but Adam Bones is an artist—and a band—without a history. The man behind the EP Rock it Up is man with a story, to be sure, but who knows how much of it is true to begin with?
Those of you Beneath the Underground may have by happenstance slipped into a musty catacomb or back alley speakeasy-style rocker club and witnessed an early version of the Adam Bones vision. You might have been in London, or Chicago, Los Angeles, or someplace more rustic, but that was the past. Mr. Bones is arising from the shadows to stake a claim and make sure that everyone Knows His Name. Be sure you do; he will ask. This is not a test.
Likewise, his band, an All-Girl-Kung Fu-Army of riffs and beats to be dealt with, came from over the waters but emerged here (in your face, essentially), fully formed and ready for service. Unknown to each other, Adam Bones on his own and the future women of his band—Rikki Styxx, Tracy Lambertucci, and Breanna Fields—were both on a quest to find the missing components to their music machines. They crossed paths either in the Spanish Basque Country (where true-blue power pop is revered with Second Coming-like reverence) or in Brazil, depending on who is telling the story. Whatever the locale, the story that gets hinted at is that Bones was mounting a one-man intercontinental odyssey in search of lost chords and modes when he crossed paths with the trio of women, working at the time as the entertainment/R&R arm of an advance, off-the-radar unit under State Dept.

Hot Tub Johnnie and the HP Radio crew stacked the speakers high and blew out The Mint with another killah show last week. Hot Tub treated us to some golden nuggets by Big Joe Turner, Phantogram, King Washington, Broken Bells, Turbo Lightning and much more.
Our guest DJ for the night was none other than LA based music tastemaker/supervisor, Sanaz Lavaedian of mOcean. Sanaz was back for her 3rd time in the Hot Tub and it was more than a charm as she treated us to an explosive set of great new jams. Included in her playlist was Flume, Chet Faker, Son Lux, Glass Animals, The Knife and many more active groundbreaking artists.
Kicking off our live action were LA based pop, singer-songwriter trio, Distant Cousins. The trio took the stage and performed a brilliant set of vibrant, foot-stomping heartfelt alt-folk, pop songs in the vein of Mumford And Sons.
LA based r&b, soul, pop artist, Magda and rapper, producer, Sum-In-1 were next to hit the stage and treat us to a high energy dance set with heavy beats. Magda kicked it off first with her beautiful pop jams and later joined by Sum-In-1 to perform their latest single, “Fill Me Up”.
Closing out the night was none other than rhythm & blues, soul, jazz, funk sax icon, Charles Neville of the legendary Neville Brothers. Charles joined NY based roots, blues rock improvisational group, Gent Treadly. This powerful collection performed a truly precocious set of blues, rock, jazz, soul and funk classics and originals for a jam packed yet intimate Mint crowd. It was an absolute treat to witness the greatness of Charles Neville perform for us.
Huge thanks to everyone that came out to support, perform, and both the The Mint and Hunnypot crews. We couldn’t make it all happen without each and every one of you! 02/10/2014
Sanaz Lavaedian (mOcean Music Supervision) Interview/DJ Set
Combined experience and complimentary musical worldviews have blended seamlessly in DISTANT COUSINS. “I love the synergy of this group because we really do each bring something different to the music,” says Dov, “Ami’s production and engineering chops are stellar.” Ami adds, “Dov helps to get our collage of ideas to a solidified song. He pulls us through the inevitable hurdles and obstacles a new song will always present.” Both love that Duvid’s raw and authentic approach brings a down-to-earth sensibility to the music. “He has managed to maintain a real organic connection to music throughout his years of experience,” says Ami, “I love his instincts and the soul that he brings.” In their short time as a band, DISTANT COUSINS is already showing signs that they are “on their way.” Their debut single, “Raise It Up,” was prominently featured on USA’s ‘Graceland’ and CBS’s ‘Criminal Minds.’ Keep an eye out for much more music soon…
Being a member of the First Family of Funk has made him world famous. But for years, the Nevilles produced great music that was seldom heard outside of the Crescent City. Some of their best work is on Treacherous (1986), which incorporates everything from Mardi Gras Indian songs to Aaron Neville’s top-charted “Tell It Like It Is.” Little they have done since can compare with the album’s gospel finale. When Aaron Neville asks his brother Charles the Horn Man to blow for them one time, he really does. Or witness his burning sound on “Fever” on the same CD. Much as they were revered in their hometown, the Neville Brothers’ ascent to superstardom had to wait until the musical collaboration between Aaron Neville and Linda Ronstadt woke up the rest of the world to what they had been missing. Aaron Neville’s career as a soloist points up a key fact about the Neville Brothers. Each has his own separate musical identity: Cyril Neville with his reggae rhythms, Art Neville with the Meters, and Charles Neville with his group Diversity. Known for ethereal performances at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, Diversity followed the masterful lead of Charles Neville. Drawing from the immense pool of fine musicians in New Orleans, from Johnny Vidacovich to Michael Ray, anything became musically possible. The group produced a CD in 1991 entitled And Diversity, which gives the listener a good overview of their amazing range. Diversity is still part of Charles Neville’s repertoire, along with the huge body of recordings and personal appearances the Neville Brothers have made in the past decade. Charles Neville’s talented daughter, Charmaine Neville often joins her father on-stage. In 2001, Neville released The Painter, in which he truly does paint with music on classics and original tunes. Also released in 2001 was Safe in Buddha’s Palm, in which a seasoned and spiritually minded Charles Neville pays homage to eastern philosophy, the healing power of the feminine, and the wealth of his musical tradition.
